Edinburgh Sheriff Courthouse

With an overall value of more than £6.5m this is one of the largest stone masonry contracts in the UK since the Second World War. The main external façade, including the ground floor arched colonnade, is in buff sandstone. The main wall areas are in a split faced sandstone, while the dressings are a smooth ashlar finish.

Further extensive external works were undertaken, including steps, paving and other landscape features whilst internally, the large full height public atrium which connects all the court levels was also given a traditional Edinburgh street look, with the majority of the walls clad in buff sandstone and the floors and staircases finished in granite.

This project won Natural Stone Awards for both “New Build” and ”Interiors”.
